I worked in the Marketing and Communications department at Minneapolis Community and Technical College from 2011-2015 filling a variety of roles and responsibilities.

This was a fast-paced environment and required our team to work closely and collaboratively to provide brand management, graphic design, digital strategy, event planning, social media strategy, and other internal and external communications needs for hundreds of college departments and clients.

Marketing and Publications Coordinator

After engaging with consultants to undergo major re-branding in 2011, the college hired me to help apply these new brand standards in several parts of the college that were using their own disparate branding and materials. The process included gaining the buy in of these departments and helping them understand the importance of being part of a cohesive brand strategy.

Continuing Education Catalog

I provided copy, editing, and a layout template for this nearly 100-page catalog, mailed 3x a year to more than 300,000 Minneapolis residents.

Web Content Coordinator

After two years as the Marketing and Publications Coordinator, I was promoted to the Web Content Coordinator role where I oversaw digital strategy and content for the external and internal websites as well as continued on in many of the functions of project management and overall communications and marketing strategy.

External website management

I managed daily update requests, monitored analytics, and proposed strategic changes to increase conversions, improve user experience, and help meet department goals. To overcome the lack of a ticketing system to serve hundreds of departments, I developed my own email ticketing system to track the multiple (sometimes conflicting) requests, tasks, and needs.

Campus-wide intranet management

The internal website was designed for staff and students to access internal information for 130+ departments and programs. I was responsible for training student leaders and staff in managing their own department pages in SiteCore. I was also responsible for promoting the use of the intranet to students and staff on campus screens, through email news, and print pieces posted around campus.
